AM design support

Getting the part right before it is printed.

Good AM parts start with a conversation. We review your part with you and plan how it should be printed and machined.

Part review

We discuss what the component does, its geometry, the material you are considering and the requirements it must meet. This is where we agree whether additive manufacturing is the right route for the part.

Models for printing and machining

As part of production planning, we produce a 3D model for printing and a separate 3D model for machining — so functional surfaces can be finished to the interfaces your assembly needs.

What to bring to the first conversation

  • The application and the environment the part operates in
  • Preferred or required material
  • Relevant requirements, interfaces and quantities
  • A drawing or 3D model, if you have one

Example

Tool with internal cooling for casting mould

MS1 tool steel

Printed in MS1. Internal cooling channels are built into the tool geometry — a feature additive manufacturing makes possible.

Tell us about the application.

Let’s discuss your geometry, material and production requirements.
